Matt had been coming into the shop for haircuts by his cousin, who was a barber there at the time, and there was an apprenticeship position available. He never thought about cutting hair until then. The apprenticeship allowed him to experience hands-on learning while also starting to build relationships with clients. By the time he completed the apprenticeship program he had created a full schedule of clients and was confident that he had the tools necessary to cut hair professionally.

Jay's apprenticeship with Make Your Mark was a profoundly realistic introduction into the Barber Industry. His mentors in the barbershop heavily emphasized critical thinking and problem solving, while simultaneously introducing important and effective techniques to improve my barbering. Make Your Mark not only prepared him to enter the industry as a licensed barber, but also educated him on how to thrive within this occupational space.
